An intelligent, moving, humourous and helpful book about something that frequently isn't funny at all - life changing illness.
To be clear that's not necessarily life ending illness ... though there are chapters that do deal with facing up to and dealing with dying that are helpful both to the person actually dealing with the illness and also to those around that person too.
Indeed this whole book is really written for the person with the illness, and is written by a person that has such an illness, however it is also an immensely helpful book for the family of someone with a life changing illness, and I would also recommend it as a good read for those who do hospital or home visiting even. There is so much honesty in this book, so many real life experiences and views, and yet there is above all humour and faith running rampant through it.
I like that the sections are all small ... always helpful if your illness causes you to lack focus or tire suddenly! I also like that there are reflection questions at the end of each chapter ... these are really helpful and could very well be used in a group setting too.
An excellent resource and genuinely helpful book.
