Silhouettes And Skeletons

Charles Simeon of Cambridge

by John Benton, Julia Cameron, Michael Rees

Price: £6.99
Publisher:Alban Books Ltd
Published:September 2013

This little booklet introduces the reader to the life, ministry and legacy of Charles Simeon, vicar of Holy Trinity Church in Cambridge from 1782 to 1836.

The 13 sections cover such subjects as his famous sermon outlines, his meeting with John Wesley, and his connection with Henry Martin. The book has a map of Cambridge, a timeline of his life, extensive footnotes, and suggestions for further reading.

The most unusual feature of this book is that it comes with a copy of eight silhouettes of Charles Simeon drawn by the celebrated artist Augustin Edouart. These bring to life the preaching style of this remarkable man of God.

This book serves as a helpful and informative introduction to one of the great preachers of the early 19th century.
