With Pity Not With Blame

Contemplative Praying with Julian of Norwich and the Cloud of Unknowing

by Robert Llewelyn

Price: £12.99
Publisher:Canterbury Press imprint of Hymns Ancient & Modern Ltd
Published:25 January 2013
This is not a new book though it is new to Canterbury Press (indeed I have one of the earlier DLT versions gracing my shelf already), however it is indeed worthy of this reprint being a classic work from Robert Llewelyn. With Julian of Norwich having been made a Doctor of the Catholic Church recently it is indeed a timely and welcomed reprint of a lovely and gentle but thoroughly engaging book on how to undertake contemplative prayer that also introduces us thoroughly to Julian of Norwich and her teachings and insights. That it also incorporates a consideration of The Cloud of Unknowing alongside Julian only increases the joy of reading this book.

Whether you are new to contemplative praying or an old hand and member of a Julian Group, whether you too had a copy of this book and read it many years ago or have never heard of it before, I can honestly say that this is well worth reading, and it is good to see it get a fresh airing.
