15 Days of Prayer With St John of the Cross

by Constant Tonnelier

Price: £8.95
Publisher:New City
Published:March 2012
Anyone who enters wholeheartedly upon this fifteen day period of prayer and meditation in the company of the great 16th century Spanish Carmelite mystic and poet, Saint John of the Cross should find it a rewarding experience, though also, I think, a demanding one. After an introduction and brief chronology that will help anyone not yet familiar with St. John, each chapter contains an extract from the saint’s own inspiring writings. The recurring themes of those writings include the call to seek God and union with God, and to be purified and transformed. The haunting, memorable phrase ‘wounded with love’ occurs more than once. Then you will find very helpful commentary to guide your thoughts by Carmelite chaplain Father Constant Tonnelier, before each chapter concludes with very constructive ‘Reflection Questions’. This is an excellent little book, designed to be used.
