Facing Illness, Finding Peace
by Nancy Groves
Publisher:BRF (Bible Reading Fellowship)
What a very different book, written almost as a psalm of consideration, a poem of reflective thought in style, spacing and character it moves you along the journey of illness and dealing with it in a way that takes little effort to read and none to understand. It immediately launches into the heart of the fear and isolation of thoughts that the awareness of real illness can bring and for this it is an excellent book to give to someone journeying with personal illness. The illness is never named and therefore could be anything, though in sections it does tend to lead to thoughts of certain illnesses. Each chapter or thought poem as they may be better termed ends with a few questions for personal reflection and a prayer. This book is written for someone dealing with the illness themselves and yet it also would work for those dealing with the illness from the outside too. For family members a serious illness often effects them in very real ways too and these reflections are open enough to work there too. This book would be a great way in to dealing with illness for anyone struggling.
