Heaven is Now
Awakening your five spiritual senses to the wonders of grace
by Andrew Farley
Publisher:Baker Publishing Group (BPG)
Andrew Farley reveals how you can enjoy the beauty of heaven no matter what your circumstances. With insight firmly rooted in the reality of pain and suffering, he shows the reader how to awaken your five spiritual senses in order to see, hear, smell, taste, and feel the grace of heaven, even in the middle of trouble here on earth.
In five chapters, each covering one of the senses, Andrew Farley helps us understand and use our senses to experience our God and his goodness and grace now. At the end of each chapter is a 'Heaven Speaks' section that is inspired directly by verses of scripture and a section, 'Awakening to Heaven' which is a prayer that will help solidify what we have learned. This is a decent write that has reference material and will offer clues for growth. Alas the content was weak and lacking the brilliance of the initial structure.
Don't be fooled by the title. This isn't some curious twist on the afterlife. This is a deeply scriptural, extremely practical and enjoyable book, full of fresh reminders of God's invitation to enjoy him in the now. Andrew has a knack for taking the most profound theological truths of scripture, placing them on the lower shelf without dumbing them down, and helping us to exchange our less-Biblical notions of God for the truth! Another resource, enabling a life full of God.
