Praying Through The Names Of God

by Tony Evans

Price: £8.99
Publisher:Harvest House Publishers
Published:August 2014

This book works through the 85 different 'Names' of God and for each of these titles offers forwards four prayers one each for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving and Supplication. The prayers are largely based around reference or ideas stemming from the scripture passage where the name has it's mention, the verse of which is also included. By doing the prayers this way it does open up the way in which the book can be used as you could either read through all the prayers, or you could work through the prayers in a time and season way ... ie a time of thanksgiving, supplication etc. The prayers could be helpful in group prayer situations and in some cases could even form the basis of a small group study perhap on the names themselves.

On a personal point I have an issue with us calling these the names of God, they are descriptors or titles, not names otherwise I have hundreds of names like Melanie the coffee deprived one, Melanie the book reviewer, Melanie the provider of school shoes...

However taking this aside I can see that this book would be helpful and of interest to a number of people
