Review:
Led Into Mystery is an informed, intelligent and articulate book that is at once both academic in scope and character and yet also deeply personal and accessible for that reason. It is a moving theological discourse, something you don't often come across!

In a way it could not fail to be so for this is the profound and heartfelt personal record of the knowledge of pain, death and loss as experienced by De Grunchy, one of the top theologians and an expert on Bonhoeffer, as the reality of death truly impacted him in the tragic death of his son. This book is the story of the family dealing with this but also a most profound reflection and theological journey into the realities of death, grief and resurrection, that opens the door deeper than any mere theological discourse ever could, and yet does lead into the theology of life and death more than many other books could. This is a book I heartily recommend, both for those interested in theology and for those struggling through grief at an intellectual and emotional level.
