Review:
These Christian meditations and prayers are written specifically for those who are caring for a loved-one with dementia. Dorothy M Stewart writes out of her own experience of looking after her husband who has dementia. Her previous book One day at a time was written while her husband was still able to live at home. This, then, is her follow-up to that, reflecting on the hard decisions and emotional struggles many carers experience when considering residential care. There is a Scripture verse, meditation and short prayer for each day of the month. The 'meditations' are full of anecdotes and practical advice and there are also helpful self-care suggestions. Although I am not in the situation she describes, I kept thinking of people I know who would find this book enormously helpful. There is also a regularly updated blog.
