The View in the Winter
by Ronald Blythe
Publisher:Canterbury Press imprint of Hymns Ancient & Modern Ltd
Published:31 January 2005
The View in Winter was first published in hard cover by Allen Lane Penguin Press in 1979. The introduction is a long one at 45 pages and has many interesting things to say, but it was written 25 years ago and surely Ronald Blythe has something new to say: however, the book contains real insights into the minds of people in their seventies and eighties, much of which probably holds good today. Many people have been interviewed and their observations written down. Instead of a narrative based in one place, these people belong to various groups; the old peoples' home, First World War veterans, retired village people and retired clergy. Ronald Blythe has written an introduction to each section.
