Look Before You Leap

- Preparing for Marriage

by J.John

If you are looking for the irrepressible humour that is J John you may be disappointed, this book is filled with a common sense approach to courtship and marriage. The humour is there but it is not the key feature, this is a practical guide to what has to be the most difficult decision people have to face, if they are going to make in a sensible and Godly manner. The book also covers the modern secular approaches and views regarding marriage and makes some of the best discussion for a Christian standpoint I have ever heard. It is a must for older teenagers and anyone at this momentous stage in life.

Till Death Us Do Part

- Building and Sustaining a Healthy Marriage

by J.John

Anyone already married would have a hard job not relating to their own marriage, what J.John has to say. I am happy to recommend this book from my own forty-five years of happy marriage. It doesn’t just happen, both partners have to consciously work at building and sustaining a healthy marriage, and it is not all a ‘bed of roses’, why should it be? We are all such different people. J.John has written about all aspects of marriage, the result is an excellent tool for those contemplating marriage through to those long married. We all have things to learn. Enjoyable to read, packed with common sense that so often we forget about!

Readings for Weddings

Edited by Mark Oakley

What a timely and welcome small volume. Those who conduct weddings will find this book helpful in guiding couples into their choices for their wedding service. And for those planning the big day it will not only help them with their choices but provide an anthology to help them reflect on their coming marriage and a souvenir to keep and dip into for years to come. It includes passages from scripture, literature, poetry – from the ‘Owl and the Pussycat’ and ‘Now we are Six’ to Shakespeare and Donne. There is also a section of hymns suitable for weddings.
